The software is such a something. Its original nature of being running code solving some problems is no longer essential.

To understand what software is and will be in the future, think of the stories of the giant software companies we all know. Amazon, Apple, Facebook, Google, and Microsoft — some of the biggest ones — started from nothing and have conquered the world thanks to what?
Each giant has deeply understood and amplified a human facet:
