Think of a piece of analog technology that we have been using for centuries, the knife. Have you ever thought about telling a knife to slice your bread?

No, you haven’t. It doesn’t even make sense.

Think now about the digital technology we have with us every day, the smartphone. Have you ever thought of asking your smartphone to call the friend who best suits the mood of the moment?

No, you haven’t. But now that you think about it, it would be nice!

Finally, think of an analog and digital technological object at the same time, the oven. Have you ever thought of asking your oven to make you lasagna for next Sunday?

No, you haven’t. But you would love it so much!

The point is that until today, we have used knives, smartphones, and ovens as tools to enhance our actions. This is the mindset that Gen AI and agents shift.

We were our actions

In Nicomachean Ethics (Book II, 1103a), Aristotle does tell how humans have been defined until now:

We become just by doing just acts, temperate by doing temperate acts, brave by doing brave acts.

Education is the only way to stay ahead of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI) taking over many jobs. You need to learn to learn. I can teach you.
