When you sell a product or a service, you ask for money from your customers, who evaluate whether the price tag is convenient for the good you offer.

Instead, when you offer knowledge on Medium — or any other platform with the same business model — you ask for time from your readers. And that’s even tougher because who knows if an article that takes 5 minutes to read is worth this time?

When you sell a product or a service, you advertise features and their benefits; people on the market can evaluate whether solving their problems thanks to those features is worth the price tag.

Instead, when you offer knowledge, what does it mean to promote your content? Simple to say, though to do: writing a compelling title.

When offering how-to knowledge, it’s pretty easy to communicate the value of the time spent reading the article in the title. You just need to clearly state what the reader can do after reading your piece. It’s about selling skills for time.
