Break Free from the Cycle of Learning Just for Fun

Even learning is deprived of purpose in our scrolling-based and purposeless world

You know when you open the YouTube app, you are attracted to a video about the First World War, and you spend an hour sipping information on that topic you’ve never thought of before? You even feel proud to spend time learning something new instead of snooping on the Facebook timeline.

But it is equally unintentional.

It reminds me of random shopping when you enter a supermarket without following the shopping list. If you haven’t decided what to buy, the supermarket chooses for you based on its priorities. Result: You spend much more than intended and buy useless stuff.

In human things, there is always a purpose guiding actions. The point is whether it’s your purpose or others.

Breaking free from the cycle of learning just for fun — like watching recommended and informative YouTube videos — gives you back the choice of purpose.

Why is that so crucial?

Each piece of learning builds who you are.

Do you want to let others decide who you are?
